You’ll never believe how easy and delicious it is to make air fryer asparagus, the perfect quick side dish! All you need is 10 minutes and a few simple ingredients. This is now my favorite way to cook this green vegetable! The nutritional yeast adds a subtle cheesy flavor and tarragon brings a delicate herbal note.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound asparagus (thin spears preferable but not required)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried or fresh tarragon (optional but recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to between 375°F to 400°F for 5 minutes.
  2. Cut off the tough bottom ends of the asparagus. Place the asparagus stalks on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle them with olive oil, add the kosher salt, and toss until well coated.
  4. Place the asparagus in the air fryer basket and roast for 5 to 7 minutes, shaking after 4 minutes, until tender and lightly browned on the tips.
  5. Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with nutritional yeast and tarragon. Serve immediately.

Notes

A few seasoning variation ideas:

    • Parmesan and garlic: Add ¼ teaspoon garlic powder when tossing with oil and salt. Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese on the asparagus immediately after air frying.

    • Lemon and pepper: Add ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper when tossing with oil and salt. After cooking, squeeze half a lemon over the asparagus and garnish with lemon zest if desired.

    • Red pepper flakes: Add a pinch before or after air frying for a spicy kick.

    • Everything bagel seasoning: Sprinkle this trendy spice blend over the asparagus after cooking.

    • Sesame: Try a light drizzle of toasted sesame oil and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
