This frothy honeydew smoothie is ultra refreshing and full of flavor! Melon, pineapple, Greek yogurt, and vanilla combine to make a delicate, hydrating drink.

I’ve come up with over 50 smoothie recipes, and there are a few that surprised me along the way. Honeydew melon is an uncommon ingredient when it comes to smoothies, but I know you’ll be as delighted as I was after that first sip.
This honeydew melon smoothie has a delicately sweet flavor and a frothy texture. It’s hydrating and healthy, and when accentuated with a hint of honey and vanilla, it’s super sippable. I’m a huge fan of this one, especially on warm summer days.
What’s in this honeydew smoothie?
This honeydew smoothie has just a handful of healthy ingredients that come together for a hydrating drink. Of course, the star of the show is honeydew melon.
This one really came together on a whim. I don’t often buy honeydew melon as my fruit of choice, but it made the grocery cart one afternoon. After we had eaten a bunch of it, I needed an idea for the leftovers. That’s how this smoothie came to be!
Here’s what to blend up:
- Ripe honeydew melon: You’ll use about ½ of a large one.
- Frozen pineapple: This brings an icy element to the smoothie and helps to thicken the melon.
- Greek yogurt: This adds that essential creaminess.
- Honey: Add a natural sweetener to enhance the melon. Maple syrup works, too.
- Vanilla: A touch of vanilla adds just enough nuance.

A note on the texture
Smoothies with melon, like my Watermelon Smoothie, generally have a looser texture because melon becomes thin when it’s blended. Of course, you could freeze melon to get a thicker texture, but who has the time to do that?
This honeydew smoothie turns out more frothy than thick and icy, but I think it has just the right amount of body! In this recipe, the frozen pineapple helps to thicken the smoothie a bit while still letting the melon shine through.
Honeydew smoothie variations
You can mix it up to customize this honeydew smoothie! Here are a few variations I thought of, but you can go wild with this one, too:
- Vegan variation: Use coconut milk or your favorite brand of vegan yogurt in place of Greek yogurt.
- Honeydew mint smoothie: Add a few leaves of fresh mint to the body of the smoothie. It will add herbaceous flavor and a more vibrant green color.
- Honeydew cucumber smoothie: Add a few slices of peeled cucumber for a spa-like vibe.

Honeydew melon benefits
Honeydew melon boasts all kinds of health benefits. It’s full of vitamin C, which is great for healthy skin and immune system health, and big on electrolytes for proper hydration. Honeydew melon is about 90% water with electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, sodium, and calcium.
Dietary notes
This honeydew smoothie recipe is vegetarian and gluten-free. For vegan, plant-based, and dairy-free, follow the modifications in the recipe below.

I cut into a honeydew to find it was a bit too ripe to eat, so I tried making this with it instead and it’s great! Very gentle and refreshing flavor. I had to add a lot more pineapple, but that could be from the ripeness of my honeydew.
