This irresistible brownie batter hummus is a healthy dessert dip that tastes just like brownie batter! Made with chickpeas, cocoa powder and maple syrup, it’s a fan favorite that’s great for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 15-ounce can chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup almond butter (or other nut butter or sunflower butter)
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup or agave syrup
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Mini chocolate chips, to garnish
  • Strawberries or apple slices, to serve

Instructions

  1. Drain the chickpeas into a glass measuring cup and reserve the can liquid (aquafaba).
  2. To the bowl of the food processor, add the chickpeas, almond butter, maple syrup, cocoa powder, vanilla, kosher salt, and 2 tablespoons aquafaba. Puree for 30 seconds, then scrape down the bowl. Taste, and if necessary add a bit more aquafaba for a creamier texture. Store refrigerated for up to 5 days. Serve with strawberries, apple slices, or pretzels.
