This grilled broccolini comes out bright green and charred! Spritz it with lemon to make the perfect side dish for grilled meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds or 3 bunches broccolini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat (375 to 450 degrees).
  2. Wash the broccolini and pat it dry with a towel. Chop off about 2 inches of the ends of the broccolini. In a medium bowl, mix it with with the olive oil, kosher salt and pepper.
  3. Place the broccolini directly on the grill grates and grill for about 5 to 7 minutes until charred and tender, turning often. Remove when bright green and charred.
  4. Remove from the grill and spritz with lemon juice from wedges from 1/2 of the lemon. Taste and add a few more pinches of kosher salt, if needed. (Variation: You can grill lemon slices 1 to 2 minutes per side until grill marks form, then serve with the broccolini.) Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Notes

Optional variations and flavor adders:

Top with shredded or grated Parmesan. Aged Pecorino makes an even saltier, more savory pop.

Drizzle with sour cream sauce, chimichurri, or lemon dill sauce. Or, add a few spoonfuls of Parmesan peppercorn dressing or Caesar dressing.

Add a sprinkle of chives or chopped basil or thyme.

Grill lemon slices 1 to 2 minutes per side until grill marks form, then serve with the grilled broccolini.
