Here’s a refreshing, healthy drink that’s packed with protein: this easy Yogurt Drink! It’s a homemade version of drinkable yogurt: yogurt with a thinner texture that’s intended as a beverage. If you have kids, you know it well! This homemade recipe is even tastier than the store-bought kind, and has less sugars and no artificial flavors. You can make it in any flavor and it tastes incredible: for kids or adults! Here’s how it’s done.

Ingredients in this yogurt drink

Drinkable yogurt is all the rage: our son in particular is obsessed with the stuff. For good reason: it’s sweet, creamy and refreshing! But many purchased brands have lots of plastic packaging, added sugars, or artificial colors or flavors. So why not try it homemade? It takes just 5 minutes to blend up and stores well. Here’s what you’ll need (see the recipe below for the quantities):

  • Plain yogurt
  • Frozen fruit
  • Milk
  • Maple syrup or honey

All you need to do: blend it up and it’s ready to go! It takes just 5 minutes and it comes out beautifully frothy and refreshing.

Flavors for drinkable yogurt

This yogurt drink is ideal in strawberry (our son’s favorite!), but you can make it in any flavor you like! All you have to do is vary the fruit that you blend in. We like using frozen fruit, but you can use fresh as well. Here are some ideas that we love:

  • Strawberry
  • Blueberry
  • Raspberry
  • Banana
  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Peach

Plain yogurt vs Greek yogurt

Use your favorite yogurt in this yogurt drink: whatever you have on hand! We like using plain yogurt because it’s looser in texture. But we always have Greek yogurt on hand in our refrigerator, too. It’s thicker, so when you blend it up you may need to add a little more liquid to get it to a more drinkable texture.

Storage info

This yogurt drink stores well in the refrigerator. Blend it up and homemade drinkable yogurt lasts for up to 5 days. It’s best the fresher it is, but still tastes good through the entire storage time. Keep in mind that it separates after chilling, which is ok: it’s still good! Just shake it up prior to enjoying.
